Shankaracharya Mutt - Kanchipuram (SRI KANCHI KAMAKOTI PEETHAM)

The Kanchi math is a Hindu monastic institution located in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, one of the five pancha-bhUta-sthalas (Temples denoting the '5 Elements'). It is known formally as ShriKanchiKamakotiPeetam, and claims to have been founded by the AdiSankaraThe head of the mutt is referred to as a "Sankaracharya", a title that is also applied to the heads of the four Sankara mutts.

The Kanchi mutt has been gaining prominence since the 18th century, when it was at Kumbakonam. Some accounts claim that it was founded there as a branch of the Sringerimatha, and branched out afterwards. Today it is one of the most important religious institutions of South India.

There is a procession taken out every Friday of the Golden Chariot which can be seen in the temple. It also houses an art gallery which tells stories of Sri AdiShankaracharya and Shankara Mutt.
  2. KAILASHANATHAR TEMPLE: If you want to see the oldest structure in the city, you should visit the Kailashanathar Temple which was built in the 8th century. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and its exquisite architectural work speaks volumes about the excellence of Pallava architecture.

There are other structures present in the temple complex too which include mandapams, tanks and gopurams. It is the largest as well as the highest temple here which belongs to the Pallava era.
  4. KANCHI KUDIL: Visit here to glance into the ancient culture followed by Hindus. It is a hundred-year-old house which has been kept intact along with different items used by the joint families. This house has beautiful paintings, furniture etc. dating back to historic era.

बैद्यनाथ धाम ज्योतिर्लिंग :

बैद्यनाथ ज्योतिर्लिंग मंदिर को ही बाबा बैद्यनाथ धाम भी कहा जाता है।इस जगह को शिव के सबसे पवित्र निवास स्थान और 12 ज्योतिर्लिंगों में से एक माना जाता है। यह भारत के झारखंड राज्य के देवघर में स्थित है। इस मंदिर परिसर है बाबा बैद्यनाथ का ज्योतिर्लिंग स्थापित है।मंदिर परिसर में बैद्यनाथ धाम ज्योतिर्लिंग के अलावा 21 अन्य मंदिर भी हैं।

पूजा का महत्त्व:

भगवान शिव के पूजा में बेलपत्र चढ़ाना सर्वश्रेठ और शुभ माना गया है। तीन पत्तियों का संगम, शिव की तीन आंखों के अलावा उनके त्रिशूल का भी प्रतीक है, जो पिछले तीन जन्मों के पापों को नष्ट करने के वाला माना जाता है। हालाँकि, वृक्ष के बेलपत्र तोड़ने का भी एक समय होता हैं। कहा जाता हैं कि महादेव सौ कमल चढ़ाने से जितने प्रसन्न होते हैं, उतना ही एक नीलकमल चढ़ाने पर होते हैं और एक हजार नीलकमल के बराबर एक बेलपत्र होता है। इसीलिए भगवान शिव को प्रसन्न करने के लिए बेलपत्र चढ़ाना चाहिए।

About the Temple :

Baidyanath Jyotirlinga temple, also known as Baba Baidyanath dham and Baidyanath dham is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the most sacred abodes of Shiva. It is located in Deoghar in the Santhal Parganas division of the state of Jharkhand, India. It is a temple complex consisting of the main temple of Baba Baidyanath, where the Jyotirlinga is installed, and 21 other temples.

About the Puja:

Offering Bilva or belpatra in Shiva Puja is important and considered auspicious. A confluence of three leaves, "Bilva" is symbolic of Shiva's three eyes as well as his trident (trishul) which is believed to destroy sins of the past three births. However, there are certain days when one should not pluck the bel leaves from a tree.
