Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple

Trimbakeshwar or Tryambakeshwar is an ancient Hindu temple in the town of Trimbak, in the Trimbakeshwar tehsil in the Nashik District of Maharashtra, India, 28 km from the city of Nashik and 40 km from nashik road. It is dedicated to the god Shiv and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, where the Hindu genealogy registers at Trimbakeshwar, Maharashtra are kept. The origin of the sacred Godavari river is near Trimbak. Kusavarta, a kunda (sacred pond) in the temple premises is the source of the Godavari River, the longest river in peninsular India. The current temple was built by Peshwa Balaji Baji Rao (Nanasaheb).

Rituals/ Pooja at Trimbakeshwar Temple

  • Kaal Sarp Pooja- This pooja is performed for those people who face difficulties in life due to certain positions of planets between Rahu and Ketu.
  • Narayan Nagbali Pooja- This pooja is performed to remove Pitru-Dosh, ancestral curses and to seek the forgiveness of Naag or Cobra. Trimbakeshwar Temple is famous for this pooja.
  • Tripindi Shradha Pooja- The purpose of this pooja is to calm down the souls of the deceased. For removing gau hatya dosha and hurdles in childbirth, bad luck, this pooja is effective. 
  • The Mahamrityunjaya Pooja- It is done for a long and healthy life and to get rid of prolonged sickness. It is performed between 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM.
  • The Rudrabhishek- This Abhishek is performed with Panchamrit- Milk, Ghee, Honey, Curd and Sugar. Several Mantras and Shlokas are also recited.
  • The Laghu Rudrabhishek- This Abhishek is done to resolve health and wealth problems. It also removes the bad effects of planets in the horoscope.

  • By Air: The nearest airport is located in Mumbai (200 Km) from regular taxi services ply to Trimbakeshwar.

  • By Train: Just 28 Km away is Nashik Railway station that connects the holy city from rest of the country through major cities and town.

  • By Road: Bus service from Nagpur, Mumbai, Pune etc are available, else travelers are free to opt to hire car or taxi according to their preference.

Other places to visit:

  1. Kushavarta: The place is among some of the picturesque regions near Nashik decorated with greenery on mountains due to river. The temple of Kedareshwar is another interest that people come for while in Trimbak. The nearby destinations of Kanchan and Kanakhala Tirth are believed to be making the bones of the dead disappear.

  2. Gorakhnath Gufa: The place is believed to be the one where Guru Gorakhnath meditates for Ganges to appear. The Shrine to Goddess Ganga is located here itself, in Brahmagiri Hills.

  3. Vallonne Vineyards:  Vallone Vineyards is roughly 25 kms away from Nashik and is a lovely little place with a gorgeous view of hills and a lake. The in-house restaurant - Mallaka Spice offers good food and one can have in-house wine.

  4. Dugarwadi Waterfall: The waterfall is approximately 10 kilometers away from Trimbakeshwar. It's a beautiful journey to reach the waterfall and one needs to walk almost 2 km with ups and downs to reach there. The waterfall is beautiful and is worth to visit after a walk.

बैद्यनाथ धाम ज्योतिर्लिंग :

बैद्यनाथ ज्योतिर्लिंग मंदिर को ही बाबा बैद्यनाथ धाम भी कहा जाता है।इस जगह को शिव के सबसे पवित्र निवास स्थान और 12 ज्योतिर्लिंगों में से एक माना जाता है। यह भारत के झारखंड राज्य के देवघर में स्थित है। इस मंदिर परिसर है बाबा बैद्यनाथ का ज्योतिर्लिंग स्थापित है।मंदिर परिसर में बैद्यनाथ धाम ज्योतिर्लिंग के अलावा 21 अन्य मंदिर भी हैं।

पूजा का महत्त्व:

भगवान शिव के पूजा में बेलपत्र चढ़ाना सर्वश्रेठ और शुभ माना गया है। तीन पत्तियों का संगम, शिव की तीन आंखों के अलावा उनके त्रिशूल का भी प्रतीक है, जो पिछले तीन जन्मों के पापों को नष्ट करने के वाला माना जाता है। हालाँकि, वृक्ष के बेलपत्र तोड़ने का भी एक समय होता हैं। कहा जाता हैं कि महादेव सौ कमल चढ़ाने से जितने प्रसन्न होते हैं, उतना ही एक नीलकमल चढ़ाने पर होते हैं और एक हजार नीलकमल के बराबर एक बेलपत्र होता है। इसीलिए भगवान शिव को प्रसन्न करने के लिए बेलपत्र चढ़ाना चाहिए।

About the Temple :

Baidyanath Jyotirlinga temple, also known as Baba Baidyanath dham and Baidyanath dham is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the most sacred abodes of Shiva. It is located in Deoghar in the Santhal Parganas division of the state of Jharkhand, India. It is a temple complex consisting of the main temple of Baba Baidyanath, where the Jyotirlinga is installed, and 21 other temples.

About the Puja:

Offering Bilva or belpatra in Shiva Puja is important and considered auspicious. A confluence of three leaves, "Bilva" is symbolic of Shiva's three eyes as well as his trident (trishul) which is believed to destroy sins of the past three births. However, there are certain days when one should not pluck the bel leaves from a tree.
