Gangotri Temple commonly known as Gangotri, is a Hindu temple. The Gangotri dedicated to the Goddess Ganga. It is situated in the Uttarkashi district in the state of Uttarakhand, India. Gangotri is a Hindu pilgrim town on the banks of the river Bhagirathi and origin of River Ganges. The temple of Gangotri located at an altitude of 3042 m overhead sea level amidst captivating surroundings. Conferring to famous Hindu legend, it was here that Maa Ganga embodied when Lord Shiva free the huge river from the locks of his hair.

HOW TO REACH
- By Air: The nearby airport from Gangotri is Jolly Grant, which is situated just 26 km from Rishikesh. From the airport, the tourist’s necessity to take either a taxi or the luxury buses to reach Gangotri.
- By Rail: The nearby railway station is located at Rishikesh, about 249 kms away, from where one has to rent a cab or take a luxury bus to reach Gangotri. Rishikesh is not linked by fast trains and Kotdwar has very fewer number of trains. Thus Haridwar serves as the finest railway station if you are visiting Gangotri by train. Haridwar is connected by many trains from all part of India.
- By Road: Gangotri is effortlessly available by road with best of the major cities of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and NCR region. It is situated at a distance of 452 Km from Delhi & 229 Km from Rishikesh.
